AUTUMN UNPLUGGED
Usually, by the third week of October the foliage in MA is Electric (even when you resist hitting the enhance button!). This year the hues are softer, more
subtle and by no means less beautiful.
Besides fewer hours of sunlight thus diminishing the power of chlorophyll to
produce a green pigment, cold nights are required to make those trees sing.
Not complaining about the warmer than normal temperatures.
I still love October!
These shots were taken along the Battle Road in Lexington
(Minute Man National Park), a favorite bike ride of ours.

The Milk Carton Kids perform at The Red Room~Cafe 939
Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale...Just love this duo, tonight's show only
cemented my admiration for their dry humor, beautiful lyrics
and phenomenal guitar playing.
I could blame the lighting or our proximity to the stage to the lack of good
photos but I think I was just enjoying the music too much to fuss with
my camera.

RIP ~Steve Jobs
”Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” Steve Jobs

Saturday October 1, 2011 HONK!!!
Somerville's Davis Square was home to the sixth annual HONK Festival.
FUN!
Across the country and around the world, a new type of street band is emerging. Acoustic and mobile, borrowing repertoire and inspiration from a diverse set of folk music traditions – New Orleans second line brass bands, European Klezmer, Balkan and Romani music, Brazilian Afro Bloc and Frevo traditions, as well as the passion and spirit of Mardi Gras and Carnival– these “honkers” all share a commitment to several core principles. Metaphorically speaking, they honk their horns for the same reasons motorists honk theirs: to arouse fellow travelers, to warn of danger, to celebrate milestones, and to just plain have fun.

September 24, 2011 Haarlem
We spent our last day in Holland in the town of Haarlem, a 15 minute train ride from Amsterdam. Haarlem (yes Harlem NYC's namesake) for me is a smaller laid back version of Amsterdam.
We spent our last day wandering the streets, here are a few of the sights that caught my eye.
market day
symmetry
remains of morning tea by a canal
Friets cooked before a 15th century fireplace
man's best friend
the family car?
JOPENKERK...local brewery, using 14th century recipes, located in a refurbished church.
This was a neat place with excellent brews.

September 23, Viannen to Amsterdam
Today began with a sail through a couple of locks and then on to
Breukelen (namesake of Brooklyn NY) where we commenced our final day of cycling.
A pretty sight along the canal.
Riding a bike through Amsterdam is both terrifying and exhilerating!
typical architecture
Barge bike parking lot?
native dress
street muscisian
Bike used for advertisement
mural on housing taken over by homeless
part of a wedding party
me getting artsy
